Hi! I’m Steph!

Welcome to my first blog post! As you may have read in the About section, I am Stephanie of StephanieH Photography, but most people call me Steph. I am blessed to be able to call the beautiful island of Oahu home. It’s here where my passion of photography grew into a (busy!) business and I’m loving every minute of it.

I’ve been asked before how I got into photography and, really, it’s one of those things that has always been in my life. As a kid, I enthusiastically signed up for a summer enrichment course to make a pinhole camera where I learned how to take images directly onto film paper and develop them in a darkroom. In high school, I found my mom’s old SLR camera and loved taking pictures, anxiously waiting the film to be developed. After college (where I studied Modern Foreign Languages and Education), I lived in Korea for months - one of the highlights being the gorgeous scenes I was able to capture. And, like many people, the culmination of this lifelong love of photography came after my children were born. As you may have already read, it was with them that I learned to capture the beauty of little moments and how good lighting and good editing can help make a good image great.

I feel drawn to edit images in a way that reflect the beauty of real life - and that I could look back on years from now and remember that natural beauty. When I was searching for a photographer to take my own family pictures, I discovered how difficult this was to find! Knowing that not only could I create images I love and feel strongly about, but also fulfill a light, bright - but still very natural - niche in the saturated world of photographers has helped me form my style.

As always, if you have any questions for me, please fill free to shoot me a message through my Contact form and I’ll get back to you!

This is me! Grinnin’ up a storm. As usual. 😉 What isn’t typical is that I don’t have a boba milk tea in my hand here.
