I’m Steph.
Family photographer, former teacher, certified klutz.
If you think you're awkward in front of the camera, great. We already have something in common. I’ve spent my whole life tripping over things (including nothing at all), so I know exactly how weird it can feel to suddenly pose like a human. That’s why I keep things low-pressure and fun. You don’t have to know what to do. I’ll guide you the whole way — over time I’ve learned what ends up looking good in the final pics.
Before photography, I was a middle and elementary school teacher. (Still certified, by the way.) So yes, I know how to get your shy kid to smile without bribery, and I’ve got tricks for when the energy gets a little too wild. As a mom of two (ages 11 and 9), I’ve seen it all. Meltdowns, missing shoes, surprise potty breaks... nothing surprises me anymore. You’re not going to scare me.
These days, I focus my sessions in Ko Olina, where I get to combine gorgeous sunrises with capturing families just being themselves. My favorite part? Watching the way everyone interacts. Whether it’s goofy, sweet, or full-on chaos (the fun kind), that’s the stuff I love to photograph.
And while I’m a big believer in printing your photos so you can enjoy them off-screen, I’ll admit I’m terrible at doing that for my own family. But I’m great at helping you do it. (Irony, yes?) Your future self will thank you when those photos are on your wall instead of stuck in your phone.
aloha!
Matcha lattes (in my trusty Yeti cup!) are my weakness.
I’ve studied 5 languages (but honestly can really only remember two now: ASL and Spanish)
My dream house would be almost empty. Clear ALL the things! (But does this mean my house is spotless now? ohhh no. I wish! I just want everything out so that would be easier)
All-day beach hangouts with friends is my idea of a perfect Saturday
Although it’s early, I LOVE sunrise sessions. It’s such a beautiful way to start the day
I was a middle school ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher before having my two kids (daughter, 11 & son, 9). I definitely think that background helps me with family photo sessions.
